1. I saw your friends watching the circus.
2. Did you ask her not to come to the party? (Apakah kamu menyuruhnya untuk tidak datang ke pesta itu?)
Christ’s is also possible, but different context. Did you ask her why she didn’t come to the party? (Apakah kamu menanyakannya kenapa dia tidak datang ke pesta itu?)
3. The lecturer wants this test done quickly OR The lecturer wants this test to be done quickly.
4. Mr. Hasan painted the rooms yellow.
Here, the adjective form (i.e. yellow) is used because it is expressing the result of the action “painted“. (See Sahirul’s addition in the comment section of the Adjective & Penggunaannya)
5. My mother let me go shopping with him.
6. I helped him finish his work OR I helped him to finish his work.
7. She heard me join the study tour OR She heard me joining the study tour.
These two are slightly different in where to stress. Use the former sentence if we want to stress on the action “heard“, and use the latter, which is a more common one, if we want to stress on the action “joined“.
8. Norman met an old friend hurrying home. OR Norman met an old friend who was hurrying home.
9. I had Mang Karna paint my house Or I had my house painted.
But, the former is expressing more detail information than the latter.
10. I selected John to go to the meeting.
11. The teacher encouraged the students to speak slowly and clearly OR The teacher encouraged that the students speak slowly and clearly.
12. The students found it/the lesson difficult. (similar to sentence 4)
13. She heard me laughing loudly.
14. John wiped the windows clean (similar to sentence 4).
15. The lecturer made him not look at his neighbor’s paper. (The pronoun should be his, not their)
