Practice your English
Seperti telah disinggung di “Mengapa Kemampuan Bahasa Inggris Saya Kurang Berkembang?“, ada banyak cara dan media yang dapat kita gunakan untuk meningkatkan English skill kita. Di blog ini, kita dapat practice and improve our written English skill melalui the Chatting box yang telah kami install di sidebar. Selain practicing our English, melalui chatting box ini kita juga saling koreksi satu sama lain. Dan, walaupun chatting box tersebut sebenarnya hanya dimaksudkan untuk practice writing in English dan to correct each other’s mistakes, kita sering end up mendiskusikan particular English problems. And, you know what? Sejak chat plugin ini diinstal, members yang aktif practice chatting telah menunjukkan writting skill yang sangat meningkat. I am really glad to see such a fast improvement.

Hi Budhi,
1. Sentence B should be the better one. Place the adverb of frequency right after the first auxiliary!
2.”S + must have + verb3″ is used to express a probability that most likely happened in the past.
On the other hand, if you are very certain, then you don’t need to presume. Use the simple past tense, instead.
To express a probability that most likely happens at present (or in the future), then use “S + must + verb1 + ..“
Similarly, if you are very certain, then you don’t need to presume. Use the simple present tense, instead.

1.what happened on your hands?
2. what was happened on your hands?
my question are:
are both of them correct active and passive forms?
what do they mean?
thanks

Hi Seeful,
I would use preposition to, instead of on, so the correct sentence should be:
It’s a question in an active voice.

In general, it’s about the American English vs the British one. The American English uses the word “need” only as a verb, while the British one uses it as either a verb or a modal auxiliary. That’s why in the American English, the helping verb do (or does) is needed when forming simple present negative and interrogative sentences. In the British English, on the other hand, we just add “not” after the word need or just put it before the subject, like how we use other modal auxiliaries. Therefore,
I am not familiar with the British English, but, I think, if the word need functions as a modal, the particle “to” should be omitted.

mr bhaskara i want to know if this sentence is already alright
we pulled the blanket to each other = kami saling tarik menarik selimut
penggunaan that dalam ‘i eaten bread that mother made for me’ kata that disitu bisakah dihilangkan dan menjadi ‘i eaten bread mother made for me’
waiting for your answer, thank you so much

Hi Junsusie,
For the two sentences, I would say,
1. “We each pulled the blanket“.
And if the intention of “saling tarik meanirk” was to claim the blanket and the winner would use the blanket, then I would say “We had a fight over the blanket“.
2. “I have eaten the bread that my mother made for me“.
The relative pronoun that, as well as which, whom and who, can be omitted from an adjective clause so your sentence is also correct if it’s written
“I have eaten the bread my mother made for me“.
However, if the pronoun is replacing a noun that functions as the subject of an adjective clause, for example,
“I have eaten the bread that was made by my mother“.
don’t omit the pronoun only. Here, you need to omit the be, too.
“I have eaten the bread was made by my mother“. INCORRECT
“I have eaten the bread made by my mother“. CORRECT
and if the adjective clause in an active voice, for instance,
The pronoun is replacing a noun that functions as the subject of an adjective clause.
the omission of “that” should be followed by the conversion of the verb to its verb-ing form.
The pronoun is replacing a noun functions as the subject of an adjective clause. INCORRECT
The pronoun is replacing a noun functioning as the subject of an adjective clause. CORRECT

Hi Henrynur,
Good question. Yes, like you said, nouns, such as, everyone, everybody, no one, no body, anyone, anybody, and some others, take a singular verb as discussed on Words always followed by singular verbs.
The pronoun for those nouns is either:
“He or she” is better than “he” because the former covers both genders. So, the following sentences would be better for the two of your sentences are, as follows,

What if those indefinite pronouns used in question tag, sir?
“Everyone needs love,……..?” What should we used in the end? Doesn’t he? Doesn’t she? Don’t he and she? Or don’t they? Thank you.

Another good question. In tag questions, however, the correct pronoun for the indefinite pronoun, such as, everyone, everybody, nobody, or no one, is “they” as discussed on How to address questions in English.

Did you mean how to pronounce them? If so,
To find out how they sound, you can use, for instance, the Google’s translator. After writing down unanswered or processes, you just click the speaker icon on the bottom right corner of the English version, then listen to it.

To address something that sticks on the surface of another thing, whether it sticks on the top, on the side, or on the down-facing surface, is by using the preposition ON.

this is :
Woman on The Ledge
She was sitting in her mahogany chair, heaving a sigh about how her works could never be done completely when the sun began to set down. As the crimson-orange had just begun to draw itself to the sky, realization came over her mind. Spring had come. A bit too early. She hadn’t prepared herself at all.
Spontantinously, she dragged her feet to the window. Her thumb was fragile and her knee was shaking when she lifted herbody up onto the ledge. Honestly she didn’t even care. Apparently she thought that spring had called her, again. And she had to come, no matter what.
The winter’s chill was still lingering in her skin, but that time it was bearable. So, she wore nothing but a long beige sleeve blouse with a matching flared skirt. The wind seemed had fun played with the laces of her clothes. But lamentably it failed to get her attention. But hey! Don’t blame her. It wasn’t her fault. It was the sun’s fault. It was the sky’s fault .
She took a glance across the street. The maple had just begun to catch fire and cherry blossom blushed furiously . It seemed that they’re syncronized one another and played along to get all of her consciousness. Covered the world with pale gold and pink. So fascinating. Beautiful. So, it wasn’t her fault in the first place .
In fact it was the wind’s fault too. Carried the almost-dried up air , the smooth-sweet scent of spring.
It was their fault to bring back the unforgettable memories every year.
It was their fault to make her do nothing but sitting on the ledge, persuaded by the youthfull spring, unconsciously gathering the fragments of memories . Of him. Again.
thank you very much sir
