Sir,could u help me to improve my english?
because,I study hard everyday,but I can’t speak english well,I study lots,lots grammar rule,but i can’t memorize it..
next day I forget and I back to memorize it again and again..I sit on my chair, try to learn deeply, but the next day i forget it.
I wish I am going to speak English with correct Grammar without study grammar rule..because i study by my self, nobody teaching me.
It’s different when I get the teacher who teach me everyday..
It’s hard for me,when I want to make a sentences/speaking I think about grammar rules first, so I write/speak much slower,
How do I do start it? I don’t know from where I start to study..

Hi Rian..
I’ve got the same thing with you, I have been learning grammar for hmm 2 years. The reason why I chose learning grammar first was since my job forced me to master it, but I’m not master at it, at all. Hiks. Â
The way I learn is by understanding the grammar rule. If I try memorize it, I bet I, myself, will get ‘lost’ when I create sentences. I have founded ‘the key’ to myself to grasp the grammar rule. But I don’t know how to share it. hehe.
Am quite sure I did make mistakes in my sentences above. hehe.Â

You’re not alone surely because I’ve got the same problem as you too, Rian, I have been learning the English grammar for more than 70 years but, sadly, I am still learning it now. Here we go…

HI Rian_bruz,
My question is “Do you practice them, the rules, every day too?”
Studying is not a must in order for you to know about a particular thing, However, no one will know about a particular thing without learning it. A young bird doesn’t study how to fly, a baby doesn’t study how to say “mama” at the first place, and so on. A young bird, however, learns how to fly from watching its mother’s flapping her wings and then by practicing what it sees. A baby learns how to speak at the first place by listening to his or her mother’s voice, by watching his or her mother’s mouth movement, by storing, copying and repeating what the baby perceives. At first, the young bird’s wings may be too weak to fly, and the baby’s utterance fails to be understood, but with the power of a regular practice, either the young bird or the baby eventually succeeds.Â
This is true for any of us. But, thinking is no longer needed once English patterns or expressions are well stored in our brain. How to achieve this? I would say by following what the young bird or the baby does.
I don’t know how to answer this because everybody has his or her own style of learning, because everybody has his or her own characteristics, habits, needs, etc. However, you may start by practicing most commonly used expressions, for instance, those you usually use in Indonesian while you’re talking with your friends, and of course, in their English version.Â
