Formula untuk Present Perfect Continuous Tense adalah:
Subject + (has/have) + been + (verb1+ing)+ object + modifier
Contoh:
- Farmers in Jati Bali have been growing rice crops since 1970. (Petani-petani di Jati Bali telah menanam padi sejak tahun 1970).
- Some students have been conducting research on vegetative plant propagations for two months. (Beberapa siswa telah melakukan penelitian pada perbanyakan tanaman vegetatif selama 2 bulan).
- Transpiration has been starting to increase since three hours ago. (Transpirasi telah mulai meningkat sejak tiga jam yang lalu).
Penggunaan Present Perfect Continuous Tense
Present perfect continuous tense digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa kejadian/aktivitas terus terjadi/dilakukan mulai dari waktu tertentu di masa lampau sampai sekarang (now).
Note:
- Walaupun polanya sedikit berbeda, kalimat dalam pola present perfect continuous tense maknanya sama dengan kalimat dalam pola Present Perfect Tense kategori yang ketiga.
Contoh:
Pada Present Perfect Tense kategori ketiga diberikan contoh kalimat sebagai berikut:
- I have lived in this house for nine years.
- We have studied English since a month ago.
- He has married her for nineteen years.
- Mr. Johnson has worked in the same place since 1980.
- She has waited for her boyfriend for an hour.
Kelima contoh kalimat di atas dapat dinyatakan dalam Present Perfect Continuous Tense, menjadi:
- I have been living in this house for nine years.
- We have been studying English since a month ago.
- He has been marrying her for nineteen years.
- Mr. Johnson has been working in the same place since 1980.
- She has been waiting for her boyfriend for an hour.
Penggunaan For dan Since
Penggunaan for dan since pada tensis ini sama dengan pada Present Perfect Tense.
Pada contoh di atas, jika for diganti dengan since, atau sebaliknya, since diganti dengan for, maka kalimatnya menjadi:
- I have been living in this house since 2000. (Saya telah tinggal di rumah ini sejak tahun 2000).
- We have been studying English for a month. (Kita telah belajar bahasa Inggris selama 1 bulan).
- He has been marrying her since 1990. (Dia telah mengawininya sejak tahun 1990).
- Mr. Johnson has been working in the same place for twenty-nine years. (Pak Johnson telah bekerja di tempat yang sama selama 29 tahun).
- She has been waiting for her boyfriend since an hour ago. (Dia telah menunggu pacarnya sejak sejam yang lalu).
Negative Form
Bentuk negatif kalimat dalam Present Perfect Tense dibuat dengan menambahkan not setelah auxilary has/have, seperti yang terlihat dalam formula berikut,
Subject + (has/have) + not + been + (verb1+ing)+ object + modifier
Note: (has not) dapat disingkat menjadi hasn’t, sedangkan (have not) dapat disingkat menjadi haven’t.
Contoh:
- I have not been living in this house for nine years. (Saya belum tinggal di rumah ini selama 9 tahun).
- We have not been studying English for a month. (Kita belum belajar bahasa Inggris selama sebulan).
- He has not been marrying her for nineteen years. (Dia belum mengawininya selama 19tahun).
- Mr. Johnson has not been working in the same place for twenty-nine years. (Mr Johnson belum bekerja di tempat yang sama selama 29 tahun).
- She has not been waiting for her boyfriend for an hour. (Dia belum menunggu pacarnya selama satu jam).
Yes/No Questions
Yes/No Questions untuk Present Perfect Tense adalah sebagai berikut:
(Has/have) + subject + been + (verb1+ing) + object + modifier?
Contoh:
- Have you been living in this house for nine years? (Apakah kamu telah tinggal di rumah ini selama 9 tahun?).
- Have we been studying English for a month? (Apakah kita telah belajar bahasa Inggris selama 1 bulan?).
- Has he been marrying her for nineteen years? (Apakah dia telah mengawininya selama 19 tahun?).
- Has Mr. Johnson been working in the same place since 1980? (Apakah pak Johnson telah bekerja di tempat yang sama sejak tahun 1980?).
- Has she been waiting for her boyfriend for an hour? (Apakah dia telah menunggu pacarnya selama satu jam?).
Penggunaan already dan yet
Penggunaan adverb already dan yet pada tensis ini pada prinsipnya sama dengan pada Present Perfect Tense.
Subject + (has/have) + already + been + (verb1+ing) + object + modifier
Atau
Subject + (has/have) + been + (verb1+ing) + object + modifier + already
Contoh:
- I have already been living in this house for nine years.
- We have been studying English since a month ago already.
- He has already been marrying her for nineteen years.
- Mr. Johnson has been working in the same place since 1980 already.
- She has been waiting for her boyfriend for an hour already.
b. Adverb yet digunakan pada negative form (kalimat negative) dan interogative form (kalimat tanya), yang biasanya ditempatkan di akhir kalimat, seperti pada formula berikut ini:
Subject + (has/have) + not + been + (verb1+ing) + object + modifier + yet
Contoh:
- I have not been living in this house for nine years yet.
- We have not been studying English for a month yet.
- He has not been marrying her for nineteen years yet.
- Mr. Johnson has not been working in the same place for twenty-nine years yet.
- She has not been waiting for her boyfriend for an hour yet.

Hi Andres,
He has worked here for ten years = He has been working here for ten years.
Why must we make two patterns to express the same meaning things?
Well, we didn’t make those two patterns, but they, native English speakers, did. You should ask them, not us.
Or, is your question probably whether He has worked here for ten years is really the same meaning as He has been working here for ten years“?

I have mentioned in the article above that the present perfect tense can be used in three different categories. Only can the third category be expressed in the present perfect continuous tense without changing its meaning.

In addition to this, bule also use the present perfect tense pattern to express a present time activity.
Example:
They also use the present continuous pattern to express a planned future activity.
Example:
And, there are many more inconsistencies like these in English.

ok’s thank you,
one question again
I think my question is like that
S V O V adverb
did the pattern is like that?

You’re welcome. But I hope this question is not your last one.
I’m afraid, NO. It’s not like that. This sentence follows the following pattern:
S V (that) S V prep. pronoun.
This pattern almost exactly the same as my sentence above.
I hope (that) this question is not your last one.
Here, “(that) S V prep. pronoun” is a noun clause, so the sentence in question actually uses,
S V O
However, if your sentence were like the following,
I am thinking of my question like that.
the pattern it follows would be as follows,
S V O adv. pronoun.

Sir, I got a question like this:
I am going on a dream vacation to Tahiti. While you 1… (do) paperwork and 2… (talk) to annoying customers on the phone, I 3… (lie) on a sunny, tropical beach. Are you jealous?
When I got the answer, I surprised that the answer number 1 and 2 is in present continuous but number 3 is in future continuous. Why ? Would you explain it?

Hi Fikri,
I don’t know what to say, except “that’s the way it is“.
Although it is written:
While + present continuous tense,
the action in this sub-clause (functioning as modifier of time) will be occurring simultaneously with that in the main clause.

What is the English of this sentence, Sir ?
Sepedaku TELAH SEDANG DIPINJAM oleh Vita.
Thanks a lot Sir. May God bless you and family

Hi Zoti,
Saya mulai dari kalimat aktifnya dulu:
Vita TELAH SEDANG MEMINJAM sepedaku.
NOTE: verb borrow (meminjam) kurang pas kalau, misalnya, action meminjam sepeda hanya sekali dilakukan oleh Vita, walaupun sepeda tersebut masih digunakan olehnya sampai sekarang. Why? Karena action dari verb ini hanya berlangsung singkat, yaitu pada saat meminta tolong untuk dipinjami (saat ngomong). Konteks seperti ini, lebih tepat kalau kita expresikan dengan menggunakan present perfect tense:
Vita has borrowed my bicycle.
Oleh karena itu, agar nyambung dengan penggunaan tensis present perfect continuous, saya gunakan verb use (= memakai/menggunakan):
Vita has been using my bicycle.
karena secara implisit meminjam sesuatu adalah untuk digunakan, bukan?
BUT, jika, misalnya, Vita rutin meminjam sepeda tersebut (Hari Minggu lalu, Senin lalu, Selasa lalu, dst sampai sekarang rutinitas peminjaman masih dilakukan oleh Vita), barulah nyambung kalau kita gunakan present perfect atau present perfect continuous tense:
Vita has borrowed my bicycle.
OR:
Vita has been borrowing my bicycle.
Kembali ke pertanyaan awal:
Sepedaku TELAH SEDANG DIGUNAKAN oleh Vita.
English dari kalimat pasif ini kurang lebih adalah:
My bicycle has been being used by Vita.
Moga membantu, but don’t hesitate to discuss it further if you’re confused with what I say.

sir, please check the pattern yes/no question, there’s a little mistake, i think…..

Hi Bocah,
Thanks for spotting that. I didn’t intend to put this pattern but, fortunately,
also exists. It’s a very formal yes/no question when the question per se is in a negative form.
A less formal pattern for this one but it’s more frequently used is:
BUT, since the examples provided in the article are in positive forms, therefore, in order not to cause questions like yours to reappear, then we should change the formula to:
Thanks again.
